Building Your Connected Learning Community

As a future educator, it is so important to build a personal learning community. There are so many benefits both inside and outside of the classroom. With today's rapidly evolving advances, creating this sense of involvement among other educators promotes collaboration and ultimately results in more student success. By creating your own personal learning community, having this platform will encourage not only yourself but other educators. There will be so many more tools available from like-minded individuals at your fingertips. This collaborative approach not only enhances students' learning experiences but also cultivates essential skills such as communication, teamwork, and problem-solving.

When creating your own personal learning community, there are many tips that should be followed. It's important to pick a tool of your choice, that will benefit you and is easy for you. After creating your profile, it's important to follow individuals who you believe you will benefit from, and who also will benefit you. This could be other colleagues or other teachers around the world. It's also important to make sure you are engaging in safe and ethical ways. If you even have to question if you should say or post something, then it probably shouldn't be posted. Having a personal learning community is supposed to be positive and beneficial, not negative. The whole point of a personal learning community is to learn more and better yourself. If the personal learning community is all willing to learn more and work together, then everyone will benefit and in the end become better, stronger teachers.

• Put people before things (test scores)
• Design with real learning in mind
• Design for evolution
• Select a passionate community leader
• Co-create content
• Bring others values and create trust

Personally, creating a personal learning community is something I plan to already start doing. I am not an educator yet, but hope when I start I will already have established trust which will help me be successful.
